Stung!

BBQ today, for hubby's work. Which was well organised and catered for, lots for the kids to do but oh boy am I tired. Hard work sitting around eating...

Poor O got stung by (presumably) a wasp and screamed blue murder. We had nothing to put on so we had to cool it with ice and cuddle him until another lady who had been stung also appeared with some cream. Instant fix. It's heartbreaking when your child is hurting and there's nothing you can do!! By the time we'd gathered our thoughts enough to consider making an expedition to get some medication, he was ok.

Poor wee guy. Enjoyed food, have heartburn exactly the same as every other night so may as well have enjoyed it! Pelvis not great, my back/pelvis joint is the primary source of the pain at the moment.

Baby presumably continues to be back to back as her heartbeat is harder to find and sounds further away. And my bump is very knobbly.

Night time sleeping is getting impossible. Daytime sleep is ok, I don't know why?? It makes no sense but does suggest I should look at my evening snackage. Daytime naps are good practice for synching naps with baby when she's born though. Ha. I've always been good at non-standard naps.

This week: prepare bedroom for baby.
Step one: clear out furniture to be collected on Tuesday.
Step two: collect cot etc and place in situ.
Step three: buy mattress.
Step four: reshuffle rest of house to make it fit.

Oh god. If I can find the energy, I am soooooooo tired.

A view to the future

Oh dear. A many ailment and excessive foetal hiccup worry related night meant I was wide awake from 3-5 am. And so 7.30 came around and it was time to get up, get the boys ready for school and get them and me out of the house in a decent state. Living dead is pretty accurate as to how I was. This is a mild hint as to what it will be like when baby arrives, except there will be a baby to cater for also.

Aiiieeeeee!!

Pelvis watch: it is a LOT better. In the last week I have only needed to use my crutches once and that was after a lengthy time in the car. I am coping with the school run sans crutches and this makes me most pleased. Should baby engage, I may be virtually immobile, but for now, it ok. There's a large array of things I just don't do, bending and walking related mostly, so I guess rest is the key, but it does seem to have eased. Walking hurts so I simply don't walk very far, and when I do, I rest until it stops hurting. Being a cumulative type of hurt, that keeps it in check.

Other symptoms: boobies are going daft again, very sore. I did manage to procure half price proper maternity bras just now though so that should help. I've been wearing sports bras to date and they're not that comfortable any more even with extenders, but I didn't really want to spend lots of cash on something that will last two months at best. Mothercare's sale saved the day.

I seem to have a 45 minute bladder capacity. Which is a right pain, both literally (the sit/stand action hurts) and in terms of planning never to be far from a toilet.

I have decided to make best use of this maternity leave time by, erm, resting. Yes, I have lots of house/baby/nesting things to do, but I can't realistically do more than an hour or two and it does make more sense to do that after school as I need to be awake and relatively interactive anyway.

And so to snooze...

Day off

Last night proved to be virtually sleep free. Indigestion and sore legs were the culprits last night but the resulting lack of sleep mean I am fit for nothing this morning. So I have dispatched chiddlers to school and their daddy to work (kindly daddy drops the boys off each day to save me walking) and I am now back in bed. And STILL sleep eludes me. Sigh.

Baby unfortunately seems to think it's time for breakfast, she is doing the hunger stampede so I'll maybe transfer to flaking out in a chair instead. And eating some cereal, as the churning baby is making me feel a little queasy.

I do have a hygienist appointment booked for this afternoon and I intend to go as this is an appointment rescheduled from December. Being pregnant means my gums REALLY need attention and if I cancel, I'll be lucky if I see her before baby arrives. I am hoping a morning of rest will restore me and there is only a teeny amount of walking required, unlike going to work.

All right baby girl!! I shall feed us!! No worries as to her wellness today anyway...

That was banal. Sorry. I'm too tired to be interesting.

One week, two days...

I can't wait! I can't wait! The scan is next Friday and I am so excited. Although this week is proving verrrrrrrry long and I suspect next week will be worse.

9 sleeps, including the one I'm about to have.

This Friday the midwife is coming to visit. I have seen her already (back in the first week of knowing) and this is my proper booking visit. Although as it's in my home, I'm guessing I won't be weighed or have all my bodily fluids checked for deficiencies.

Approaching 11 weeks and this is how it is healthwise:

Cold has gone, but a vile cough remains. Turns out non drowsy cough medicines of the linctus variety are ok for pregnant ladies and are remarkably effective in a well-I've-stopped-for-now manner. They're not Original Benylin but they do allow cessation of coughing long enough to breathe.

Symptoms of growing a baby at 10 weeks + 5: unbelievabubbly tired, despite sleeping better at night. Sickness is more in waves than a progressive worsening. My boobies are now less sensitive and although huge, don't ache so much. Stomach is a vast expanse of bulgingness that makes me look much pregnanter than I am, and which I don't really understand. I don't think I can feel my uterus under the udder, but I'm not sure. The udder is much pushed forward by something. Bowels? Triplets?

The other October 2011 ladies on iVillage say they can feel a hard lump, I don't think I can. Or maybe I can, I can't tell. You're not meant to be able to feel it above the pelvis till 12 weeks, so that's a good indication it's NOT twins. Unless it's quite high and I can't tell. Who knows?

For two/three days I had a very sore back, possibly caused by (minimal) housework on Sunday. Muchos pain of the tailbone, which made walking tricky, sitting painful and bending a thing of the past. It's still a wee bit twingy but mostly ok, being able to have a bath is most wondrous in times of backache. The Hypochondriac in Me (aka HIM) diagnosed an incarcerated uterus, or at the very least a tilted (retroverted) uterus, which would push against the spine instead of rising up out of the pelvis.

Cure: lie on front. Have done. Got better. Still can't feel uterus: HIM concludes that the foetus must have stopped growing.

Oh shut up!! Yesterday's test (just checking) said 3+ weeks very quickly so my levels are still very high.

And where was I? Ah yes. Backache.

It is a little strange to have backache; having been dosed up on some type of morphine based painkillers for over 18 months, other aches and pains were masked and unnoticed. Now - I have twinges and niggles. Boo.

I have done very few school runs this last week. Hubby can be ace.

Current "craving": bacon. Yummy.
